From Mama's Kitchen: A Recipe to Treasure

Some recipes are written on cards.

Others are written on our hearts.

Growing up, dinner was more than a meal in our home—it was a daily gathering. No matter how busy the day had been, we came together around the table as a family. There was conversation, laughter, fellowship, and almost always one familiar aroma filling the house.

Fresh cast-iron cornbread.

My mother, Naomi Huddleston, made cornbread nearly every day. She didn't need a recipe card. She knew the measurements by memory, the sound of the batter when it was just right, and exactly when the skillet was hot enough.

Her kitchen was a place of warmth, generosity, and love.

One of her favorite sayings was:

"Powerful Cooking."

To her, cooking was never simply about feeding people. It was about bringing family together, creating lasting memories, and showing love through hospitality.

Today, so much of life moves quickly. Family dinners are often replaced by busy schedules and meals on the go. Yet some traditions are worth preserving.

This recipe card was created not only to share a recipe, but to honor a legacy.

A legacy of gathering around the table.

A legacy of feeding both body and spirit.

A legacy of Powerful Cooking.

May this card inspire you to slow down, invite someone to the table, and create a memory of your own.

Because recipes are passed down.

But love is passed on.
